The College of Engineering at the University of California, Davis, invites applications from, and nominations of, outstanding candidates for the Edward Teller Chair in Applied Science.

Edward Teller, one of the most influential physicists of the 20th Century, founded the department of Applied Science at the UC Davis College of Engineering.  This prestigious senior level appointment honors the renowned scientist and requires a senior distinguished scholar with an outstanding research record in engineering, physical or applied science, as well as a strong commitment to education and teaching.  Appointment will be at the full professor level.

The primary appointment for this position will reside in the Department of Applied Science, but applicants may consider partial appointments (up to 50%) in other departments in the College.

The College of Engineering plays a dynamic role in the mission of UC Davis, one of the nation's top public research universities. The College integrates teaching, research and service to society, advancing the leading edge of engineering knowledge and training the next generation of engineers who will make a difference in the world. The College has eight departments and twelve undergraduate majors accredited by ABET. Recent multi-disciplinary initiatives include Energy for the Future, Foods for Health and Computational Science and Engineering. The successful candidate for the Edward Teller Chair will participate in interdisciplinary science and be a leader in defining future initiatives.
